Dear Gloria Dei

This Sunday we continue our theme: Vintage Faith (The Timeless Love of God!). Another classic car will be out on the courtyard – Jim St. Martin’s 1946 Ford Woodie. And what vintage theme will we looking at in worship? Pews! (Community) Jesus redefines community and family in this way: “Whoever does the will of God is my brother and sister and mother.” (Mark 3:35) Who is your family? How do they support you? How do you support them? How do they walk the faith with you? I hope Gloria Dei is your “family.” Not in the sense of biology, or a closed system, or a loose collection, but a feeling of being on an adventure, a mission together. For that feeling to happen, it takes the Spirit, time, forgiveness, sticktoitiveness, participation, and a whole lot of other ingredients. Like a family, a church can be full of a whole bunch of “characters.” Like a family, a church can get derailed and become unloving.  Like a family, a church can be less than perfect and I think that’s the whole point. God throws us all together, with all our differences in politics, backgrounds, races, cultures and says, “love one another.”  Thinking about that, it’s amazing Gloria Dei thrives! But one thing God does not do is give up. That’s the cross! Blessed to be in the family, Pastor David   P.S. This Sunday, the Quilting Ministry will be raffling off a beautiful quilt!yoke is easy and my burden is light. (Matthew 11:29-30) Peace,

Pastor David
